Emily Harrison
Alum
Emily received her PhD from UC Berkeley’s Science and Math Education program (SESAME). Her research investigated ways to support students in revising their scientific ideas on complex subjects, including genetics, natural selection, and evolution. She designed and tested several WISE units on these topics in which students use interactive models and various assessment types to tackle complex ideas.
Prior to beginning her PhD at UC Berkeley, Emily worked at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory in NY and collaborated on several projects, including several cancer research projects and her masters research on laser-activated transcription. Emily holds an MA in Secondary Science Education, and an MS in Molecular Biology from Adelphi University.
